(Hoogeveen/Steenwijk, 2001-2009)

When Martheun Poolman aka Bizkid aka Bolle † (Point Of Few, Gilgamesh, Gascoigne, Darkwaterscam, Live Fast Die Young) worked in the Het Podium youth center in Hoogeveen as booker, he decided to start the Trashfest festival. Together with his Point Of Few bandmates (Rik, Jop and Marco), they organised the first Trashfest. Eventually it became an annual fest, all was done on a DIY base with volunteers and the youth centers’ financial budget could be used. When Martheun became booker for the De Buze youth center in Steenwijk (less than 50 km from Hoogeveen), he continued Trashfest. Since he had the possibility of a second full-fledged stage (an outdoor stage borrowed from the yearly Stonehenge metal festival), the event became bigger. Unfortunately the municipal and neighbors plus surrounding were not very forthcoming and because of troubles with a permit, Trashfest 15 was cancelled last minute (Steenwijk has a very large and strong christian community that disapprove of the youth center). Needless to say, this was the definite end of the festival.
