(Amersfoort, 1982 – 1983)

Meaning Bandname: The bandname is: Asperitys, not The Asperity’s as it says on the Holland Hardcore releases. We found it in an english dictionary, meaning “rougness of surface, harshness of manner”. We made it plural, which is probably not an actual English word

Bio: In March 1982 guitarist Hette and singer Arne put up a small ad at the clippingboard of the B.A.M. rehearsalspace in Amersfoort. They were looking for a bassplayer and drummer. Both Bas and Edwin replied and completed the band. The first few months we played mainly coverversions. Bandmembers were between 16 and 19 years old. Arne left shorly before the first gig in June 1982. To let his show happen, Edwin took over vocals, which went quite well. The next singer was Bas Odink who joined in July 1982 and the band started playing their own material, written by both Hette and Edwin. Bas Odink left around December 1982 and was replaced by Rob in January 1983. Rob who also played bass so lead vocals and bassplaying were shared with Edwin who sang on almost one third of the songs. With Rob and also because we were influenced by our fellow local band Total Chaoz/Lärm, we sped up the songs and moved into harcore sounds. The band split up in the fall of 1983 because some members moved away for college .   

Description: We were infuenced by UK punk circa 1980, but along the way we discovered hardcore. With UK punk songstructures we wrote hardcore punksongs in both English and Dutch language.
