(1977 – 1980)

Meaning Bandname:
Invented by Johan Visser. He added a white tornado to the members picture of art collective De Ark.

Bio: From Enschede. Singer and artschoolstudent Paul Hajenius is Paul Tornado. He starts with the band in October 1977 after a fellow student, Willem Wisselink asks him to record a single. The name of the 7” is inspired by God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols and comes from minister of justice Dries Van Agt who decided that pornmovies can only be showed in cinema’s with a less than 50 seats capacity. Plus he was strongly against abortus because of chrisian beliefs. The B-side is heavily influenced by David Bowie. In December 1977 the record comes out and after a very succesful promotion campaign of De 1000 Idioten Records, it sold all 1000 copies in no time. After being stalled for too long, Paul finds other members for the band and records a 12” for Plurex Records, the biggest competitor for De 1000 Idioten Records. The band splits up after the release.
