(1981 – 1984)
Meaning Bandname: The name came from our song Last Views, which was about the last views of the world, just before world war III would destroy the entire planet.
Bio: The band was formed in Amsterdam at the end 1981. Herry had played in another band, that changed it’s name every 2 months (Suspects, Kix, Ratz Emperium), which left him with a demo-tape containing 17 songs written by him. Most bands start off playing covers, but we had our very own set. The old demo was to many punk, but now it was hardcore, so the old songs were played faster. The first demo was recorded on december 31, 1982.
We had been practising in some rehearsal room in the South-East of Amsterdam (Bijlmermeer). Because we knew the people from the Nitwitz (who had just their name changed into B.G.K., and their style into hardcore), we were offered a timeslot in the rehearsal space. This was the start of it all.
We started gigging at a more regular base (still not too often), together with the likes of B.G.K., No Pigs and Amsterdamned, and later Crucifix, M.D.C. and Toxic Reasons. And we got invited to join into the recording of the compilation album “Als Je Haar Maar Goed Zit… Nr. 2”.
Early in 1984 there were a few major line-up changes, eventually leaving Herry and Hans as the only original members. It was time for a new name: Deadlock.
Description: Political hardcore-punk with typical influences of the 77 english punk. Lyrical content strongly political. Early songs have a focus on the cold war, later a more wide spectrum.
