(1925 – now)

Exists since 1925 and is named after its first owner Herman Maas, a dancing teacher. He renovates the mansion into a dancehall. Since 1930 there’s regular jazz concerts. After the owner dies, it is sold to Frigge boss Ploeger but the name stays the same. During the 60’s beatbands play and at the end of 70’s, Robb Kauffman/Starproductions (also in Subway) rents the place for punkconcerts. He also does a couple of concerts in other places because Huize Maas is limited (The Stranglers/999 in the Evenementenhal on 17.06.1978, Ultravox in Stadsparkpaviljoen on 10.11.1977, Johnny Thunder’s Heartbreakers in Stadsparkpaviljoen on 24.11.1977).
