100 groups protested against a rigid and highly restrictive noise law that seemed to bring the entire infrastructure surrounding concerts to a standstill. (For example, youthcenter Simplon had already been forced to close its main hall in late 1993.) On Saturday, May 28, 1994, the campaigning parties organized a protest festival under the name How’s Live?. From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, one hundred bands played at 100 locations (including many living rooms). The event concluded with a ‘Manifeest’ at the Oosterpoort, featuring, among others, the Raggende Manne, De Kift, and the Groningen bands Cousin X and De Yoghurts.
