(Breukelen/Loenen, 1979-1981)
Meaning Bandname: Made up in a corny mood. The name means frigid strollers.
Bio: Started as a graffiti name but initially this was one of Ricky’s imaginary bands, which took shape in comic strips and fictitious interviews. They played as a 3-piece (they became friends as classmates at the Broklede secondary school in Breukelen) on an untuned 5-string acoustic guitar, a toy horn, a drumkit consisting of a tin and a 2nd hand radiator that they were working on with a broken clothes hanger. It was improvisation. The first recording is a tape made in the attic room of Jeroen in Breukelen on Boxing Day, 1979. With this brand new demo tape Jeroen and Ricky headed to London where they approached Rough Trade, the leading label in the independent music industry at the time. Rough Trade didn’t want to release it but advised them to distribute the music on cassette tapes by their own label! And so they did with Green Giggle Produxions. They started to make the Offbeat fanzine, formed a political party and started the Finger In The Dike tape label. When they joined a band collective with 700 Ennemies and Explosive Negatives, they gained access to “real” instruments.
Their most notable live performance was in the Vrije Vloer in Utrecht and was broadcast live on 3FM by the VPRO. Eventually they did about 15 concerts. After their break-up in 1981, Jeroen went on in Amsterdam as drummer for the punkband Terreur.
