Meaning bandname: The Shikari is a predator, extremely intelligent, with excellent senses, tracking abilities. They are also extremely fast and agile. Shikari prefer to hunt in packs, so they have rarely been seen alone. If a lone Shikari is encountered approach with extreme caution, as they are known to use a variety of tactics including luring and ambushing targets. Shikari means "Hunting Dead Bodies" in japanese...

History: During spring 1999, Mark and Maurice from Office Killer decided to start a new band and asked Michael and Bas to join. In January 2000 the first concert was done in a local youthcenter and in february recordings were made in the Kuschel Rock studio in Bremen. These recordings have been released as a 10” by Deadlock Records in December 2000. In February 2001 Shikari recorded 6 songs for a split 10” with Seein’Red in the Kuschelrock. Plus another 3 songs (1 for a spanish compilation called “Biela”). In August 4 songs more are recorded for a 7” on Throne Records from Spain. In September Shikari joins Ação Direta on a part of their European tour in Eastern Europe. In November one song (“Ons Land”) is recorded live in the Bunt’s Studio in Utrecht for the “Maximaal Onthaal”compilation-CD (on Royal Blood Records from Amsterdam). In december the entire split 10” session is re-recorded due to deletion of the original tracks. Instead of 6, it’ll be 4 songs. The “Biela” project has been cancelled and in April 2002 this song is released on a limited edition 3”CD together with Seein”Red (who also recorded for this compilation at the time). It sells out on the U.K. tour in April/May 2002. In May the 7” on Throne Records gets cancelled and is released by Level Plane in the USA in November 2002. The european pressing of the 7'' is cancelled due to fucked up mastering and will now be released as a mcd in september 2003. The split 7'' with Sin Dios from Madrid will be out end of 2003. Also Level Plane will release a 12'' and a "discography" cd later in 2003. Other plans include a split 8'' with Louis Cyphre from germany.
